Tea is grown on estates or plantations. A plantation is often privately owned and sells their plucked leaf tea to the factory for processing. An estate is a self-contained unit that has its own factory, grows its own tea, and provies schools, hospitals, housing, and places of worship for its employees who live and work on the estate.
